About Jodi

It may sound cliché, but the pandemic changed me; motivating me to find a happier, healthier version of myself. I studied nutrition, qualified as a health coach, added more strength training and resistance work, alongside my Pilates workouts, committed to self-care, and vowed to nourish myself with the right foods for my body and stage of life. It worked. Now I sleep better, feel energised, and am well-nourished and it shows.

It wasn’t always this way though.

Here’s my journey to better health…

Being active - it’s part of my DNA

As a child, I was what you’d call ‘active’, some would say ‘hyperactive'; always on the go, never sitting still, dancing and playing competitive tennis, but, like many teenagers, focusing on my studies meant I began to live a more sedentary life. If I knew then, what I know now, that would never have happened.

In my twenties, I had a dream job in TV documentaries, but after injuring my leg at work, I spent six months in rehabilitation, during which I gained weight… and perspective. I realised then that I need to move. That being active and outdoors is part of my DNA.

Revitalised after rehabilitation

As I regained fitness, my appearance changed, and so, with newfound energy, I decided to take the bold step of changing career so I could help others feel revitalised too. I firstly focused on fitness qualifications and then, realising many people I encountered needed something more than exercise, studied rehabilitation Pilates, undertaking an elite and extensive two-year training program and going on to open my own holistic studio in Palma, Mallorca.

Midlife weight gain

It wasn’t all plain sailing though. I found my mid 30s and early 40s tough. After having children, I struggled with anxiety, loss of confidence and self-esteem and, like many other ‘mid-lifers’, found myself piling on the pounds, particularly around my midline, despite being active.

I knew this couldn’t go on.  And then came the pandemic...

Becoming a better ‘me’

As you know, this resulted in me taking steps to better my own mental and physical health, and going on to qualify as a health coach so I could help others do the same. The College of Naturopathic Medicine taught me how the body works, what it needs to function, how to treat it well, and the power of mindset. It gave me the tools to educate, empower and support people from all walks of life to make positive changes to better their health and wellbeing.

What is a health coach?

It’s a question I’m often asked. A health coach knows the body inside out, how it functions, and what happens when things go wrong. They also understand good nutrition, so they can optimise their clients’ diets and help them find the nourishment that’s right for their body and way of life. Health coaches are also trained in fitness so they can recommend suitable movements and exercises, helping people set goals, and achieve them. It’s not all about the body though, we understand mindset, the power of positivity, and how to help people commit to and overcome the challenges they face.

My approach

When I work with someone, I look at their whole body, and their way of life. I know from experience that no two individuals are the same, and that’s why all my programs, whether private, or in a group setting, are personalised, my advice, bespoke.

I come from a place of understanding. I know what it feels like to not be in love with your body, I empathise with the frustrations that health issues bring, and I’m well aware that good health is about the mind as well as the body.

Years of training and practical experience have taught me that growing numbers of people are struggling. They want to prioritise their health and wellbeing, and know that they should, but for one reason or another that’s not happening. I give them the tools, and the support they need to get to the place they want to be.

Shall we?

You can choose to work with me in one of two ways, through group coaching or one-to-one sessions. Whichever way you choose, I recommend a minimum commitment of twelve weeks, which gives us time to make adjustments, overcome obstacles, and find a new way of being that will continue to work for you in the months and years ahead.
